If playing on a disc the first thing to do is check the disc for any scratches or smudges, I fixed the issue with one of my games a while back simply by giving the disc a wipe. If the issue remains and you are using a disc, first delete the game data and once done eject and reinsert the disc and it should start up. It might be that your permissions for the save folder are somewhat broken. Do you still have it installed? If so, What did you do exactly? Did you change any permissions on the folder? Can you remove the texture pack and try again?
